The Church of Fathers: Council of Nicaea (Arianism)
Paul Jang  2008-12-03 14:35:56, hit : 3,625

(1) Arianism

1) It is a doctrine had been condemned in 323 AD in the church at Alexandria, Egypt.

2) It is the doctrines in which Arius insisted against the doctrine of orthodox doctrine of Christianity.

3) The doctrine of Arianism:

¨ç It denied the Trinity that the Son, the second Person was fully divine. Jesus Christ was the greatest of God's creature, a mighty archangel, but not God. (cf. Justine, Tertullian, Origen and Arius)

¨è He wrote popular song about his belief, "the Son is inferior to the Father" so as to sing around Alexandria.

¨é The matter seemed closed, but many people sympathized with Arius's view. And also the struggle ended only in 379 AD.

¨ê Arianism, in brief statement, is the doctrine that the Second Person of the Trinity was not eternal, but was the first and greatest of all created beings. After all, it was condemned by the Councils of Nicaea (325 AD) and Constantinople (381 AD).

¨ë Arius, for whom the movement was named, died 336 AD.
